Six decades of Jazz with European Broadcasting Union- LIVE from Ljubljana
Jazz is one of the most fertile areas of interest in contemporary music. From young performers to respected academics, this domain cannot be ignored by anyone who has dedicatedtheir life to the art of sound. A project of the European Broadcasting Union, dubbed the Euroradio Jazz Orchestra, is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year with a special concert at the Cukrarna Gallery in Ljubljana.
The musicians will be conducted by MatjaŸ Mikuletiè, who also composed the pieces that you'll have the opportunity to hear on Monday, May 12, starting at 21:00. Born in 1975, the composeris a graduate of the Jazz Department at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, where he studied under Professor Ed Neumeister. He was nominated for a Grammy Award, and his collaboration with the Euroradio Jazz Orchestra began in 2004, as a trombonist. Among the artists he has worked with are Herb Pomeroy, Peter Erskine, Maria Schneider, Michael Abene, Kurt Elling, Paquito D'Rivera and Patti Austin. In 2024, he became the artistic director of the Big Band of the Slovenian Radio and Television.
It promises to be, therefore, a unique concert with great music, curated by important musicians - an event that we will broadcast live from Ljubljana on Monday, May 12th, starting at 21:00, as a part of the European Stage program.
